The development team at PopCap Games wants to make music a bigger part of the new Peggle 2 by creating more situations where the soundtrack and the gameplay of the title complement each other in interesting ways.

Jared Neuss, a producer working on the title at the studio, states in an interview on the Major Nelson blog that, “With Peggle 2, we want to create even more iconic moments that perfectly blend gameplay and audio to draw people deeper into the game. The soundtrack has something for everyone, from classical music to dub remixes. I’m constantly amazed by the things that our audio team can do.”

He also believes that gamers have always congratulated his team on the use of musical cues, like the Ode to Joy, and that they are aiming to keep standards high.

One of the players also asked about the developer’s favorite new Peggle Master power and he explained that, “Berg’s Deep Freeze power is my current favorite. When Deep Freeze is activated, the entire board becomes encased in ice, causing hit pegs to slip and slide around as they crash into each other. Setting off huge chain reactions of pegs is incredibly satisfying.”

Neuss also admitted that his team was pretty happy with the way Peggle 2 blended addictive gameplay and joyous moments.

The game is at the moment offered as a timed exclusive for the Xbox One home console and should also be delivered in the near future on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox 360.

Peggle 2 offers the same core gameplay experience as its predecessor, but the team at PopCap says that all the levels are designed to be less frustrating while also retaining the core challenge level.

There are also new Masters to play with and gamers can also enjoy a new Duel game mode.
