One of the most popular co-op online multiplayer games, Payday has been confirmed to make its debut on mobile devices. According to developers, the Payday franchise will be ported to mobile sometime this year.

Unfortunately, we don't know which platforms will get Payday first, though we suspect the game will be launched on Android and iOS initially.

Publisher Starbreeze Studios announced that it has teamed up with China-based studio Cmune to bring the first game in the Payday franchise to mobile devices.

Cmune is a developer specialized in mobile games, which is well-known for titles like UberStrike, a multiplayer FPS, and Bullet Rush. On top of that, the studio is now working on another multiplayer FPS game called Deadheads, which is designed exclusively for touch devices.

“We see Cmune as a long-term partner and are very happy to join other notable partners as investors in the company.

We’re used to seeing PAYDAY in a cooperative setting, and are really excited to explore how PAYDAY can evolve onto new platforms and see what we can do with competitive gameplay on mobile,” said Bo Andersson Klint, CEO of Starbreeze AB.

More info on the game will be unveiled later on

According to Starbreeze, more details on Payday's availability will be disclosed at a later date. Let's hope the game will be launched sooner rather than later, and that it will be available on as many mobile platforms as possible.

“We see a huge opportunity in the marriage of first class IP like PAYDAY and mobile. There’s a market hungry for a fresh take on FPS in both the east and west, which we plan to capture,” said Ludovic Bodin, CEO and co-founder of Cmune.

“When we looked at how PAYDAY could play out on mobile, it came incredibly natural. We’ve got some amazing ideas and really cutting edge tech to make something worthy of all the PAYDAY fans out there,”said Shaun Lelacheur-Sales, CTO and co-founder of Cmune.
