PayDay 2, the cooperative-focused shooter from Overkill Games and Starbreeze, is the new leader of the United Kingdom video game chart, managing to take the number one position during the first week it was available on sale.

For the week that ended on August 17, PayDay 2 is leading, but it is unlikely that it will be able to keep its position given the fact that this week will see the launch of such titles as Saints Row 4, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.

Minecraft on the Xbox 360, the indie title that has managed to stay at number one for most of the summer, is at the moment in second place in the United Kingdom, according to data from UKIE, and will continue to sell well as long as updates arrive at a solid pace.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the shooter from Treyarch and publisher Activision, manages to seize the final place on the podium for the week, with a big increase in sales, coming in from number seven.

The good performance was probably linked to the coming launch of the final piece of DLC for the game, called Apocalypse, which will be offered on the Xbox 360 in late August and about one month later on the PC and the PlayStation 3.

FIFA 13, the football simulation, is in fourth place, down from second, even as the Premier League season is getting underway in England.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, from Nintendo, is in fifth place, followed by The Last of Us, which seems determined to keep hold of sixth place.

The Smurfs 2 from Ubisoft sees the biggest drop in the United Kingdom chart and lands in seventh place, with LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes right behind.

Tom Raider is again glued to ninth and GTA IV managed to take over number ten just one month before the launch of the fifth title in the series.
