14 DAY TRIAL // Pauly D, real name Paul DelVecchio, known for his appearance on MTV’s “Jersey Shore” reality show, is a proud father. Pauly confirms the news for TMZ and, at the same time, reveals that his daughter is a few months old.
“I'm proud I'm a father. I am excited to embark on this new part of my life,” he says in a brief statement.
Pauly and the mother of the child are not in a relationship, having met and hooked up in 2012 in Las Vegas, while he was in town for a DJ gig. The child, a little girl named Amabella, is currently living with the mother.
Since news got out, Pauly has also been saying that he plans to be more involved in Amabella’s life, now that a DNA test has revealed she’s his. He hopes he and the mother will be able to find a way to work together for Amabella’s sake.
Friends close to the reality star tell E! News that he’s “always wanted kids,” but he didn’t expect he’d start a family with a random hookup. Nevertheless, now that it happened, Pauly D is determined to make the most of it.
“[He] wasn't exactly planning for it to happen this way, but God works in mysterious ways,” an insider explains.
Pauly D isn’t the only “Jersey Shore” hellraiser to have children: Snooki (Nicole Polizzi) was the first of the gang to become a mother, an experience that has changed her life for the better. It has also improved her public image, since she’s no longer referred to as a raging drunk but as a loving mother and savvy businesswoman.
Snooki was among the first celebrities to congratulate Pauly D on his amazing news, joking that her son Lorenzo will have a girlfriend in Amabella when they grow up, which they will hopefully do together.
