You would think, from the way that their marriage ended, that Paula Patton and Robin Thicke would go out of their way to avoid spending time together, and they probably do. However, their marriage also resulted in a son, and for his sake, they got together for Christmas.

TMZ has photographic proof that the two exes, who split in early 2014 and filed the divorce papers 8 months later, spent the family holiday together, though they did make an effort not to appear in the same picture together.

And apparently, Paula’s family still has nothing but love for the love rat.

Robin was invited to Paula’s party, left model girlfriend at home

Robin was invited over to Paula’s house, where she hosted a big family Christmas party. He posed for photos with many relatives, some of which were from Paula’s side – and they all seemed completely smitten with him, as if he’d done nothing wrong in his marriage to Paula.

TMZ says that the photos were made public by Paula’s cousin, who is shown in some of the photos, but adds that “it’s not normal for her family to show him so much love.” Considering how many times he cheated on her, how she embarrassed her publicly several times, and how he allowed his partying lifestyle to ruin their marriage and break her heart, that’s probably accurate.

An insider confirms that Paula only invited Robin over for their son Julian, because she doesn’t want him to be affected too much by the divorce. Robin, for once, showed some consideration and thought better than to bring as his date his new girlfriend, model Love Geary, who is only 19.

A love story gone wrong

Robin and Paula were high school sweethearts, and naturally, they were also one of the oldest and most solid couples in showbiz. For years, rumors said that the only way in which they managed to stay together was by keeping their marriage open, or at the very least, by having Paula turn a blind eye to his serial cheating.

In 2013, it became clear that things were bad: Thicke was photographed making out with various women who were not Paula in clubs around the world and there were tales of his drinking becoming a problem. Back home, his cheating also became a serious problem, and Paula eventually decided that she wanted out.

What followed was a chapter in Thicke’s career that he probably wants forgotten, but chances of that happening are close to none: he spent almost a year trying to win her back by making everything public. He wrote her an entire album, on which he begged and pleaded, admitted to cheating and boozing, and became the laughing stock of the industry.

To boot, the album, “Paula,” wasn’t even that good to begin with – and no, she didn’t take him back.
