While bitterly disputing the interview that ran in Ladies’ Home Journal, Paula Abdul has taken the time out to perform for the first time ever on the American Idol stage – and show the world that she still has what it takes to put on an incendiary performance.

Paula performed her latest single, “I’m Just Here for the Music,” amidst a frenzy of dancers, some of which even used her as a prop at a certain point. As the video of the performance shows, mid-way during the performance, the male dancers pick Paula and raise her above their heads, while, towards the end, one single dancer grabs her by the waist and spins her upside down. For a 46-year-old – and not only – this is truly jaw-dropping, fans say.

Although she has had her fair share of criticism along the years, especially in the aftermath of a series of more controversial interviews, in which she was seen slurring her speech or not being able to make up a single sentence, Paula Abdul still enjoys the support of a considerably large fanbase. The performance of the other night, the first since she joined the panel of judges on American Idol in 2002, has not failed to get fans rushing to dedicated forums to sing her praise and welcome her back – quite justly, several music-oriented publications say.

Speaking of publications, Paula is now considering her legal options as regards an interview that Ladies’ Home Journal ran, which had her quotes taken out of context so as to make her look as if she was admitting to an addiction to prescription drugs, OK! Magazine says. Paula herself called in to a Detroit radio station, denying the interview in the aforementioned magazine was even remotely close to accurate.

“I’ve never checked into a rehab clinic. I’ve never been addicted or abused drugs, and I’ve never been addicted or abused alcohol. I’ve never even been drunk in my life.” Abdul said on air. As for her so-called rehab stint, which reportedly took place after Thanksgiving last year, it was merely a visit to a spa that the magazine spun around to make it look like something else. “It’s a spa. I was there for almost three days having fun doing spa stuff. It’s not a clinic. It’s not a detox place. It’s a luxurious spa. It’s like taking a mini vacation. I just wanted to chill out and get massages and maybe a manicure and pedicure.” Paula says.
