“They’re totally in love and thrilled!” says jeweler who created the wedding bands

Singer Sir Paul McCartney and businesswoman Nancy Shevell are now husband and wife after tying the knot in a beautiful, non-denominational ceremony at the Old Marylebone Town Hall in London the other day.

The two started dating in 2007 and became engaged this spring. Since then, they’ve been busily preparing for the wedding, which turned out to be a simple, yet very stylish affair, People magazine reports.

As he stepped outside his home before the ceremony, McCartney was in such high spirits that he even joked with the photographers, asking them about the reason they were gathered outside.

Once wed, the two emerged under a shower of white and pale pink rose petals, as they waves at the photographers and the crowd. They could hardly stop smiling for pictures.

While the groom wore a navy suit designed by his daughter Stella, the bride ditched the traditional wedding gown for something a bit simpler and, one might infer, more comfortable too.

She did have a bridal bouquet, though, as well as flowers in her hair.

“McCartney gave his bride a vintage-style Neil Lane diamond eternity band featuring 5-carats of square cut diamonds set in platinum. The singer proposed with a 5-plus carat, flawless diamond art deco ring, also from the celebrity jeweler,” People writes of the rings exchanged.

As for the party, it was all organized considering that McCartney has been a vegan for many, many years, though an exception was made for the cake, which came in two variants: vegetarian and regular.

“The newlyweds celebrate[d] with a party [Sunday] evening at McCartney’s home, where guests feast[ed] on vegetarian items including arugula and basil salad, goat cheese polenta, savory tarts, and dumplings,” the celebrity magazine further writes.

Another party will take place in the US sometime this month, presumably once the couple returns from the honeymoon.
