Cooling is one of the most significant aspects of any hardware component, which is why countless companies are always ready to provide us with products designed to keep the computer temperatures within optimum range. From time to time, one of these aforementioned companies comes out with a rather interesting and uniquely designed product. This is also the case with one cooling solution coming from Patriot.

The company specializes in manufacturing memory modules for both desktop and portable computer systems. In time, it has proved it can provide a wide range of flash-based memory modules for a wide range of consumers, including high-end gaming users. For them, Patriot is now preparing a cooling solution that is designed to keep memory temperature levels down to a minimum.

The upcoming active-cooling solution is called Vortex and will require a separate memory DIMM, as it features two 40mm fans. These two fans are said to be working at an amazing 5000RPM, which could ultimately turn out to be very loud, although details regarding the noise level of the Vortex haven't yet been made public. Regardless of that last part, the two 40mm fans are expected to provide an optimal airflow for both overclocked and non-overclocked memory modules. Unfortunately, no specifics have been made available regarding the materials used for the Vortex cooling solution, but that and much more will certainly become common knowledge once the company officially unveils the product.

"Heat is a major enemy when it comes to high-performance overclocking memory," said Les Henry, Technical Director of Patriot Memory. "By adding airflow directly over the memory, Vortex can lower module temperatures up to 30%. This means potentially higher performing memory with increased stability for running today's complex multi-threaded applications which require high-bandwidth, low-latency memory."

Unfortunately, this is about everything that the company let out regarding the upcoming cooling solution - pricing and availability details being off-limits as of now. One option regarding the latter could be that of Patriot actually offering the Vortex bundled with one its high-end overclocked memory modules, but nothing is yet certain. Stay tuned here for more.
