DDR3 is not too far from becoming the next memory standard in the computing market, and from being integrated in upcoming computer systems, especially since both Intel and AMD are expected to release their next-generation processors, coming with native support for DDR3, soon. This is probably why several memory manufacturers, including Patriot, are already announcing a series of new modules designed to benefit from the technical specifications of DDR3.

Just recently, Patriot has announced the availability of a new memory kit, as part of the company's Viper series. As you might have anticipated, the newly announced product is based on DDR3, and provides 4GB of memory featuring low-latency. The newest addition to the company's Patriot Viper series boasts a clock rate of 2000MHz, and also features high-density and high-frequency, thus enabling overclocking capabilities for high-performance gaming rigs. Other technical details include rated timings of 9-9-9-24 at 2.0V voltage, and an aluminum-made Viper Heat Shield heatsink, specifically designed to cool off the modules.

“Patriot's DDR3 2000MHz memory kits are perfect for PC gamers and enthusiasts,” said Technical Director of Patriot Memory, Les Henry. “Capable of handling the demands that high-bandwidth multimedia programs and PC games require, the 4GB PC3-16000 2000MHz memory has the perfect combination of density and speed to push systems beyond what is currently imaginable.” Henry added.

In addition, the new DDR3 PC3-16000 2000MHz Viper Series modules also provide EPP2.0 (Enhanced Performance Profiles). This is a memory technology designed by NVIDIA for its nForce 5, nForce 6 and nForce 7 chipsets. The main purpose of this technology is to allow users to overclock their memory modules easier than before, and thus maximize their system's overall performance.

Unfortunately, the company has not released yet any details regarding pricing, but the modules should soon become available in 4GB and 2GB kits, at select partners.
