After releasing Parted Magic 2.0 on February 11th, Patrick Verner announced the availability of Parted Magic 2.1, a bugfix release to the specialist LiveCD for disk partitioning. This comes with an updated Linux kernel, version 2.6.24.2, and fixed PXE booting.

The updates and changes for Parted Magic 2.0.1 are the following:

? Updated to linux-2.6.24.2. ? Updated to testdisk-6.9. ? Updated to syslinux-3.61. ? Updated to partimage-0.6.7. ? Updated to busybox-1.9.1. ? Updated to pcmanfm-0.3.6. ? Updated to ntfs-3g-1.2216. ? VisParted now creates ext4 file systems. Parted still detects them as ext3, so you can check it with blkid to make sure it's really ext4. ? Fixed PXE booting. ? Fixed Multiboot CD problem. Replace "livecd"/"liveusb" with "multiboot" in the syslinux.cfg/isolinux.cfg. ? Merged "List Partition Tables" into VisParted. ? Added nc (netcat) and some other networking programs to busybox. ? Added squashfs-lzma kernel drivers. The initrd moved back to an ext2/gzip initrd and the pmagic file is now compressed with lzma compression. Use mksquashfs and unsquashfs in Parted Magic to deal with this file. This allowed some free space to add a bunch of new kernel drivers. ? Added all upstream changes from Gparted CVS. (0.3.5+) ? If you select "Help" from the "Help" menu in VisParted, it launches Firefox to the Parted Magic documents. ? Removed the gtk+ H20 theme and replaced it with Clearlooks. ? Fixed xxd and dd placement. ? Fixed missing pmodules directory in the make USB program. ? Fixed the desktop files getting deleted bug.

Parted Magic is 40 MB in size, with programs that allow an user to partition disks with ease. Programs like Partition Image, TestDisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, ddrescue, and a good documentation will help you in your partitioning tasks. For basic Unix commands and networking, Parted Magic uses Busybox, Firefox for web browsing and the Dropbear SSH server and client. Parted Magic is licensed under GPL.
