Grinding Gear Games is apparently going to hit some Path of Exile players with the banhammer soon.

Race Season Ten and PvP Season One have come to an end, going really well and bestowing a ton of prizes on the victors, but the company seems to think that a worrisome trend might be negatively influencing some of the results.

Players have been using third-party programs since the days of Diablo 2, varying in scope from revealing the map without the need for exploration to full-blown godmode hacks.

It seems that Grinding Gear is of the opinion that even some of the users using such programs for "quality of life" reasons shouldn't do so, as it has issued a warning to 3912 users of its popular online action role-playing game Path of Exile.

In a recent news entry on the official website, Grinding Gear Games' Chris notes that there will be no further warnings, and that people caught running various third-party tools alongside the game client will have their account terminated.

"There will be no further warnings. All incidents that didn't result in bans before this post have been treated as warnings, but from this point forward we will close accounts that run cheating software," Chris states.

If you got the message, shame on you!

He also clarifies the company's stance on what people are and aren't allowed to do in addition to enjoy the game in its vanilla state, saying that gamers are allowed to run single-action hotkeys (an alt+f4 macro was provided as an example) or tools that don't require the Path of Exile client to be running, such as Procurement.

He warns users that they should abstain from using maphacks and other such programs, and that there will be no exception to the rule. Furthermore, he assures users that frequently requested quality of life issues will be addressed, so they shouldn't resort to third-party tools for that purpose.

The community fully supports the developer's decision, but some are still wondering what happens to those who used cheating software and didn't get a warning, and are most likely feeling empowered to keep doing it in the future.

The game has recently gotten a massive update, introducing player houses, among a slew of other neat features. You can see how player housing works in the video below, an official showcase of one of the awesome creations of the Path of Exile community.
