Parted Magic 6.2 has been launched. The latest update to the partitioning and disk management tool/Linux distro comes with the brand new Parted 3.0, only a couple of weeks old, and a few changes to the desktop environment.

However, even though the command-line Parted 3.0 is now included, the GUI version, Gparted is built on top of the older LibParted 2.4. This will likely be fixed in a future update.

Also in a future update, Parted Magic will include the upcoming PCManFM release. To accommodate this, Parted Magic now uses Rox for the desktop icons and feh to handle the desktop background.

"It's that time of the month again. The most noticeable change is Rox now handles the desktop icons and feh displays the desktop wallpaper. These seemed like the best light weight choices in preparation for the new PCManFM when it's released as stable," Patrick Verner announced.

"Parted was upgraded to 3.0, but GParted is still linked against LibParted 2.4 for now. All fonts should look good in Firefox if you use a language other than US English. A few other useful programs were added like ZFS Fuse, Lilo Setup, Rox Filer, and FixParts," he added.
