Alan Baghumian announced a few hours ago, January 1, the immediate availability for download of the Parsix GNU/Linux 4.0r1 operating system.

Dubbed Gloria, the first maintenance release of the Parsix GNU/Linux 4.0 distribution is powered by Linux kernel 3.2.35 and X.Org 7.7, GNOME 3.4.2 desktop environment.

The distro also incorporates popular applications, such as Chromium 22.0, GNU Iceweasel 17.0.1, LibreOffice 3.5.4, VirtualBox 4.1.18, Gparted 0.12.1, Empathy 3.4.2.3 and GIMP 2.8.2.

“Parsix GNU/Linux 4.0 (code name Gloria) brings tons of updated packages, faster live boot, improved installer system and quality new features. The updated 4.0r1 version has been synchronized with Debian testing repositories as of December 29, 2012 and brings lot of updated packages compared to Parsix 3.7 aka Raul.”

“Parsix Gloria is project's first release with GNOME 3 series and ships with LibreOffice productivity suit by default. Gloria has a brand new software manager package,” Alan Baghumian, developer of Parsix, said in the official release announcement.
