Because Lindsay Lohan didn't leave Hawaii on time, she missed a taping of Ellen DeGeneres' show the other day. Paris Jackson was asked to be on the show instead – and you can see a few highlights from it in the video below.

Paris, who, after many years, can now go out in public without having to wear a mask, opened up to Ellen on a variety of topics, including the much talked about masks Michael had her and her brothers wear, a career in showbiz, going to public school, and being “normal.”

She says that, at first, she thought too that having to wear a mask in public was a weird thing to do, but admits that, in time, she saw where her father was coming from.

“Yeah, I'm like, 'This is stupid; why am I wearing a mask?' But I kind of realized the older I got, like, he only tried to protect us and he'd explain that to us, too,” Paris tells Ellen.

It was also from Michael that Paris got the acting bug, after seeing him in a film. He'd always make sure he encouraged her to do her best at all times, acting included.

“We would do improv together. He would give us little scenarios. He would (say), 'OK, in this scene you're going to cry' and I'd cry on the spot,” Paris recalls, joking that she used this neat trick to get away with a lot of things afterwards.

She's now getting ready to make her acting debut.

However, she's also focused on her education. Paris is now attending a regular school, after being home-schooled for years – and she vouches she's happy she's leading a “normal” life, as normal as can be.

This was what Michael always wanted for his children too. Of the most important thing Paris learned from him, she has a beautiful and touching story to tell.

“He said, 'If I die tomorrow always remember what I told you.' I took his advice and I remembered everything he told me,” she says.

As noted above, Ellen had initially booked Lindsay Lohan to be on the show. However, she was “detained” in Hawaii, where she went for a little R&R.

In a statement issued to Radar Online and various other media outlets, her publicist said she offered to tape the segment on a later date but she could not be accommodated by producers.
