14 DAY TRIAL // At this year’s MTV Movie Awards, the unexpected happened when Eminem’s face came in very close contact with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s nether regions, as he was flying his alter-ego Bruno towards the stage. However, no matter how hilarious or, on the contrary, out of line, the public might have deemed the skit, reports have it that Eminem was not MTV’s first choice for it since his name only came up when Paris Hilton refused to be a part of the gag.
Sources from inside the show are telling Life&Style Magazine that producer Mark Burnett initially wanted heiress Paris Hilton for the skit, but she immediately refused when she heard it would imply a jockstrap-wearing Bruno would land in an upside position on her so that she would face his backside even for a couple of seconds. Burnett then came with the idea of including Eminem in the skit, the source further explains. Said and done: only that, now, in order to avoid being turned down again, Burnett omitted to reveal to the rapper just how Bruno would be dressed (the gladiator uniform and the jockstrap were specifically left out) and this is how he came to agree.
If what the unnamed source is telling the publication is true, then it means Eminem was genuinely upset when he saw Bruno was landing on his face and his bodyguards were practically useless when he asked them to remove him. This would also explain why the rapper did not get up from his seat when he saw the comedian was allegedly having trouble with the cables that held him up in the air, and that he was heading straight towards where he was seated.
“Eminem, who had just returned to his seat after performing a medley of two tracks from his new album, ‘Relapse,’ was not pleased. ‘Are you serious?’ he said, uttering an expletive and demanding that his bodyguards get Bruno off of him. A minor melee ensued as Bruno continued to dangle above Em and Em’s protectors tried in vain to remove a winged Bruno from their row of seats. ‘Hey, don’t touch me guys!’ cried the Austrian. ‘I’ve already got a boyfriend. Hey guys, let’s continue this in my hotel room!’ As Em left his seat, Bruno asked, ‘Is the real Slim Shady about to stand up?’ Stand up he did.” MTV wrote of the skit that ended with Eminem leaving the room in the foulest moods possible.
Granted the rumor that he had agreed to the skit but had not been told the kind of clothes Bruno would be wearing (or, rather, lack thereof) is true, it’s no wonder Eminem was so upset. “Paris is quite happy she turned down the offer.” the insider also reveals for the same publication.
