14 DAY TRIAL // Yes, you read that correctly: Paris Hilton, the famous Hollywood socialite, was just quoted as saying she's one of the top 5 DJs in the world at the moment. Let's let that sink in for a bit while we look at the facts.
The interesting statement was made by Paris in a recent chat with a paparazzo that was photographing her at LAX. TMZ has the video with a sunglass-wearing Paris nonchalantly admitting that “I'm one of the best 5 DJs in the world so … you know.” Paris was returning from Moscow and she decided to explain just how lucrative the music business was for her.
While she isn't present on the Forbes list of top-earning DJs, Paris does pick up some serious cash for her music mixing, although it's not clear whether club owners call her for her music or for her controversial personality.
The blond Hilton started DJing back in 2012 when she was dating DJ Afrojack. Based on her musical taste and her extensive clubbing experience, Paris thought she might make some money out of partying. Reportedly, she makes between $100,000 and $350,000 (€73.067 and €255,736) per hour, which isn't all that bad, in all fairness.
But from here to naming yourself one of the top five in world, Paris might do well to look at that list before she makes any more statements. According to the list, DJ Calvin Harris was the top earning DJ in 2013 with $46 million (€33.6 million) followed by Tiesto with $32 million (€23,3 million).
As a side note, Paris isn't in the top 10 of that list, but at the rate she's been playing the club scene, it's not completely outlandish that she will be appearing in the Forbes list next year. She has already signed a contract with a major club in Ibiza, as well as with The Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas this New Year's.
