She was just dancing, says rep

This past month, Paris Hilton has been attracting a lot of media attention again and it’s not for the reasons one may assume she’d want coverage. After being detained by police for having marijuana on her person, Paris is again in the eye of the storm after a photo which seems to show her doing the Nazi salute has ended up online, as MusicRooms informs.

This time though, her spokesperson insists, the media got it all wrong. The socialite is currently on vacation, flying from St Tropez to Cannes and Ibiza to party around the clock and, at one of these exotic locations, she was photographed doing what looked like a Nazi salute. To add insult to injury, Paris was also wearing a military-style red hat at the time the picture was taken, which only made her critics even more bitter against her.

“The heiress was pictured partying aboard a yacht in St Tropez on Sunday while wearing a red military hat. The images, which soon found their way to the Internet, showed the socialite apparently using her finger to improvise an Adolf Hitler-esque moustache and giving a Sieg Heil salute,” the aforementioned e-zine writes. As rumors spread on the net like wild fire, Hilton’s rep quickly stepped forward with an explanation for the photo.

This is a clear case of never trust your eyes situation, he says, because Paris was not doing the Nazi salute: she was just dancing. And scratching her nose. “Paris was dancing and having fun with her arm up in the air. She always dances like that and was scratching her face when a photo was taken. The hat was a military-style hat from a club. Half of her family is Jewish and many of her friends are as well,” says the statement from the Hilton camp.

As we speak, clamor online is slowly starting to die down. Many believe that the photo (also attached to this article) was simply taken at a very unfortunate time, meaning precisely when Paris lifted her arm up in the air and took the other hand to her nose to scratch it. Others too are saying that she couldn’t have been doing the Nazi salute, though the reason they offer for it is more blunt: Paris probably doesn’t even know what that is, they say on certain forums that are not Hilton-friendly, to put it mildly.
