The world knows Paris Hilton, the heiress, the socialite extraordinaire and showbiz personality, the fashion designer, singer and actress, rather for her wild lifestyle than for her wisdom. However, experts compiling the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations have included one from her as well in the updated version that goes out to sale in stores today, The Sun informs.

The 20,000 new entries also include quotes from Winston Churchill, Oscar Wilde, US President Thomas Jefferson (who, almost 200 years ago, warned that banks could be more dangerous than organized armies), Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman, Stephen Hawking, Aung San Suu Kyi, Humphrey Lyttelton and even a 2,000-year-old quote from Confucius, who urged, “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” Paris’ contribution is somewhat more practical, though, the heiress advising people to “Dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in.” the same source informs.

As anyone can easily imagine, the decision to include a Paris Hilton quote in such a prestigious publication did not fail to raise some eyebrows, especially since this is the same person who trademarked “That’s hot,” and who has more than once publicly shamed herself. However, it is believed the decision came from the need of truly “updating” the content of the Dictionary of Quotations with quotes that are more easily relatable.

For the sake of the argument, other Paris Hilton quotes that can be found on the Internet (and included here courtesy of ThinkExist) and that could have made the cut for their sheer absurdity also exist. Paris told the officers who arrested her while driving under the influence, “Thank you, officer. We love the police.” At one point in her life, she was even wondering about what Wal-Mart was, saying, “Wal-mart... do they like make walls there?” Confidence is also very important for the heiress, telling young girls who look up to her that, “I think it’s important for girls to be confident. Believe in yourself and... everybody’s hot.”

Then again, thinking is not such a big part of the equation, as Paris herself admitted when she said, “I don’t really think, I just walk.” Perhaps a woman who has enough courage to say, “King me, baby... it’s oh-so fashionable.” does deserve her own quote in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.
