Crusader Kings 2 offers the sort of grueling experience that completely enthralls you. It has grand strategy, court intrigue, backstabbing and a lot of different tiny cogs that you try to get to spin your way in order to get a great plan going and smash your opponents to smithereens.
HBO's Game of Thrones, based on George R. R. Martin's fantasy novels, also has a ton of that, merging the brutality of politics in medieval times with dragons, zombies and a bit of magic, making it just a teensy bit more exciting.
While Crusader Kings 2 lacks the fantasy elements that appeal to so many gamers out there, it's still a solid game that emulates the experience of being the master of an extensive empire, and of managing many moving parts in order to get your way, through whatever means necessary.
Unsurprisingly, Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester mentioned that Game of Thrones is the only license he would consider for the strategy studio to undertake, as reported by PCGamer.
During a ParadoxCon round table, Wester said that although he would be interested in taking on such a project, he wasn't sure it's the right route for Paradox to take, mainly due to concerns related to creative control.
Crusader Kings 2 already has A Game of Thrones content
The funny thing is that although Paradox didn't get in touch with HBO, the premium cable and satellite television network contacted the video game developer and publisher over concerns regarding a popular Crusader Kings 2 mod that brings Westeros, the fictional continent in Game of Thrones, to life in the grand strategy game.
One of the reasons Paradox's games gain traction with the PC crowd is the widespread support for modding, and with a lot of enthusiastic users tweaking the experience or completely altering it, there is a lot of be excited for.
The Game of Thrones mod is a full conversion of Crusader Kings, set in the world of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy saga, allowing its fans to indulge in a bit of struggling for supremacy.
