A few weeks back, South Korean mobile phone maker Pantech announced the upcoming availability of a new handset running under Google's Android operating system, none other than the Pantech Vega LTE

, which comes to shelves with gesture recognition capabilities.

The company has just announced that its mobile phone was packed with the Hand Gesture Recognition Technology developed by eyeSight.

Developer of touch-free interfaces for digital devices, eyeSight Mobile Technologies has partnered with Pantech for the inclusion of these touch-free control capabilities inside the new mobile phone.

The company offers touch-free Interfaces for consumer products, enabling users to easily control mobile devices or portable devices through simple gestures.

The Android-powered handset from Pantech is expected to become available for purchase on the market in South Korea later this month, and it seems that users will be able to enjoy more than just LTE and Android applications and services on it.

“Pantech users will enjoy a completely new user experience, controlling their device with natural and intuitive hand gestures,” said Gideon Shmuel, eyeSight’s CEO.

“The agreement with Pantech allows us to extend our reach in the fast growing South-East Asian market further emphasizing eyeSight’s leading position in the global field of gesture recognition technologies.”

Pantech has also packed the new mobile phone with its own touchscreen user interface, through which on can easily access applications and content.

However, the eyeSight technology should provide users with increased control over these apps at times when the touch controls are not as efficient as needed.

Taking advantage of the Hand Gesture Recognition Technology developed by eyeSight, the owners of a new Pantech Vega LTE smartphone will be able to perform various actions on their devices.

For example, they will have the opportunity to perform gestures to answer a phone call, or to easily activate their MP3 players, or even play games. Other tasks can also be performed through simple hand gestures.
