South Korean mobile phone maker Pantech is gearing up for the launch of a new handset in the popular Vega series, one that will allegedly hit shelves as Pantech Vega Iron 2, and that is expected to feature a Snapdragon 805 CPU when made available.

According to techorz.com, the yet unannounced device is currently being readied in four different flavors, namely M-A910S, M-A910K, M-A910L, and M-A910D, with the first three of them allegedly designed for major wireless carriers in South Korea.

The last of them, however, could be launched as an unlocked version, and it might also become available for purchase in other markets around the world.

One of the most appealing features of this device should be the Snapdragon 805 chipset, which was made official not long ago with four Krait 450 cores clocked in at 2.5GHz, as GSMArena notes. The chip also packs Adreno 420 graphics.

As it turns out, the Pantech Vega Iron 2 might be the very first smartphone to arrive on the market with Qualcomm’s processor inside. For the time being, it is the first we’ve heard of, that’s for sure.

The hardware specifications of the yet unannounced handset should be in line with this powerful processor, starting with a massive 5.5-inch touchscreen display that will be able to provide users with a full HD (1080p) resolution.

Moreover, the upcoming mobile phone is rumored to arrive on the market with 2GB of RAM, as well as with 32GB of internal memory (though a 64GB model will also be released, it seems).

Additionally, the phone will feature LTE-A connectivity capabilities, along with USB 3.0 support and a 2800 mAh battery inside, rumor has it. Vega Iron 2 should also include the usual set of sensors.

On the back, the new handset will pack a 13-megapixel camera, which might be able to provide users with the possibility to record videos in 4K resolution. A 3MP front camera will also be added to the package.

The same as previous models in the Vega series, the new device should run under Android, most probably one of the latest platform releases. There’s no official confirmation available on Pantech’s plans for the new mobile phone, though chances are that the rumor will pan out in the end.

What remains to be seen, however, is whether the new mobile phone will enjoy expanded availability outside South Korea, something that usually doesn’t happen when this vendor’s models are involved.

Unfortunately, no specific info on when Pantech might make the new device official has been provided as of now, though we suspect that more on it will arrive soon. Details on its pricing were not unveiled either, but stay tuned.
