Starting June 5th, Android fans can purchase yet another Android smartphone via AT&T, the Pantech Crossover.

Announced one week ago, the handset can now be bought for $69.99 with a new two-year contract and minimum monthly data plan.

Pantech Crossover makes as an excellent option for those looking for a messaging device or business phone.

As the name suggests, the Crossover is not a high-end device, but not an entry-level smartphone either.

Our Android portfolio continues to grow with unique options for customers of all types,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Device Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.   "The Pantech Crossover with its unique finish and full keyboard will introduce new and existing customers to smarthphone features for the first time."

The phone's selling point is the slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, as well as the Android 2.2 Froyo platform.

Otherwise, the Crossover comes with a rather small 3.1-inch multi-touch screen display, and a mediocre 3-megapixel camera with camcorder, fixed focus and 4x digital zoom.

The slider is powered by a low-performance 600 MHz processor and features HSPA tri-band (GSM 850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz) and quad-band (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) support.

In addition, Pantech Crossover is delivered with the popular AllSport GPS app, an application that offers users workout tracking, maps, a calorie counter and other features.

Another interesting feature such as Mobile Hotspot, which allows users with tethering plans to connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices, is embedded as well.

Unlimited Wi-Fi usage on the AT&T's Wi-Fi Hot Spot network with qualifying data plans is also available.

The phone is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 360 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time.

On related news, Pantech Crossover is one of the premier phones promoted in the next few months on the Dew Tour action sports tour, of which this manufacturer is the official handset sponsor.
