Since the CEDIA 2007 expo is in full swing as we speak, each of the most important manufactures of entertainment-oriented electronic devices is trying to come up with some new product or announcement that will push them ahead of the competition. And that's exactly the case with Panasonic, who has just announced the release of two new widescreen 1080p plasma displays, namely the TH-42PZ77 and the TH-50PZ77 models, which, according to the company, provide an enhanced cinematographic experience due to the fact that they incorporate the company's most advanced image processing technologies.

The two new models presented by the Japanese company are by no means the first in their family, since the 700 and 750 series have been around for quite a while now. However, they do continue the high-tech tradition established by their predecessors, as both the TH-42PZ77 and the TH-50PZ77 feature more than two million pixels and have a resolution of 1920 x 1080, with a contrast ratio of 10,000:1.

The two PDPs also feature an anti-glare screen coating and a jack pack that includes two HDMI inputs, three S-video inputs, three composite video inputs and two component video inputs. The PZ77 series also incorporates an automatic pixel wobbling function for anti-image retention, as well as the EZ-Sync technology developed by Panasonic in order to grant users seamless control of their entire Panasonic-based home entertainment system using only one remote and the unique SD Memory card slot.

"Panasonic's 2007 line of 1080p Plasmas produces crisp, clear images with a wide viewing angle so that the superb picture can be seen from any seat in the home environment," commented Dennis Eppel, Vice President, Panasonic Display Company. "We've been the market leader for the past three years and as the saying goes -- the proof is in the pudding. Quite simply, Panasonic's Plasmas produce beautiful pictures and with our recent announcement of an extended life span of 100,000 hours to half brightness, these 1080p TVs are the perfect technology for a variety of entertainment options, from gaming to viewing sports and movies."

The two new PDPs from Panasonic will be made available for purchase later on this month and have estimated retail prices of around $1799.95 (the 42-inch version) and $2799.95 (the 50-inch model) respectively.
