IFA will officially start on September 2, but attendants are already gathered in Berlin, some of them having already given previews of what they will have on display, including Panasonic.

Panasonic is one of those companies that has a stake in many of the IT industry's layers, so its IFA 2011 exhibition is bound to be more than varied.

Among the items on display, there will be cameras and camcorders aplenty, some of them only in concept form.

One such concept camera is, for now, described merely as a LUMIX 3D prototype and is designed with dual 4x lenses with thin folded optics.

It should be able to shoot 3D videos once it is complete and ready to land in the possession of buyers.

In the meantime, the company will no doubt be more focused on promoting a different 2D / 3D twin-lens camcorder, the HDC-Z10000.

This product has dual CMOS sensors, a combined resolution of 13.1 megapixels, the ability to record 1080p / 1080i AVCHD 3D video and all it needs for 3D macros of as close as 17.8 inches, basically a record for twin-lens 3D camcorders.

"Adding to Panasonic's top-of-the-line 3MOS full-HD camcorders, the HDC-Z10000 naturally excels in the recording of high-quality 2D images. It also meets the constantly increasing need for full HD 3D videos, as both professionals and consumers desire more flexibility and power when shooting 3D," said Chris Rice, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.

"The HDC-Z10000 is a unique camcorder in that it has high-end features to suit advanced users, but is easy enough to use for those looking for excellent 2D video and who may want to explore 3D video shooting as well."

Unfortunately, Panasonic chose not to disclose any pricing and availability information in its otherwise detailed and lengthy press release.
