There have been plenty of interesting additions to the Lumix lineup of Panasonic digital cameras at CES 2011, targeting various specific consumer segments, and that's also the case with the S-series compact digital cameras, that target the entry-level segment.

The 14.1-megapixel LUMIX S3 and 12.1-megapixel LUMIX S1 feature a new design, as well as 28mm wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens, and, beside being able to take good-quality shots, they also enable users to record 720p videos.

The cameras also feature Panasonic's Intelligent Auto (iA) mode, packed with MEGA OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Face Detection and an Intelligent Scene Selector, plus a 2.7-inch large Intelligent LCD for composing and reviewing photos and videos.

It's also important to mention that the LUMIX S3 and LUMIX S1 are powered by the Venus Engine VI image processor and come pre-loaded with the LUMIX Image Uploader, for fast and easy upload of the photos from the users' cameras to their favorite websites.

Plus, users will have plenty of color options to choose from, since the LUMIX S3 will be available in blue, red, black and violet while the LUMIX S1 will be available in blue, black, gold, pink and silver.

"With Panasonic's new LUMIX S-Series, we are giving consumers really intuitive digital cameras that provide smart features for users who simply want to take exceptional photos and videos," said David Briganti, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.

"In addition to advanced features like a 28mm wide-angle lens and HD video, the S-Series also offer a simple solution for sharing videos and photos on popular sites such as YouTube and Facebook," Mr. Briganti added.

Similar to most of the new Panasonic products unveiled at CES 2011, the company's refrained from offering any details regarding the pricing and availability of their brand-new S Series lumix cameras, but they did mention that we'll get these important pieces of info 30 days prior to the official shipping dates.
