Back in January, Panasonic was saying it will deliver a new GH mirrorless camera with 4K video recording with a under $2,000 / €1,440 price-tag, which got people a little excited.

The device was rumored to arrive in late February, but Panasonic seems to have a little bit of a problem delivering the promised goods on time (see Panasonic’s 4K tablet). Nevertheless, later is better than never.

The Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera body plus a 16MP CMOS Micro Four Thirds sensor will take customers back a decent $1,700 / €1,224 but in case you want the optional YAGH pro audio/video interface, you’ll have to be throwing in an extra $2,000 / $1,440. The camera is up for pre-order on Panasonic’s own website, EOSHD.com and Adorama.

The estimated shipping date shown on the device manufacturer’s own website is set for late April, so eager customers still have some time to wait until they can take this baby out for a spin.

The camera is said to allow UHD content recoding at 200 Mbps and output it live via a mini-HDMI out. The camera bundles a Micro-Four Thirds shooter that can save the footage directly on an SDXC card. The model can shoot both 3,840 x 2,160 and 4,096 x 2,160 4K video format at 30 frames per second with 100 Mbps rate.
