For those eagerly awaiting the Panasonic Lumix GF6 refresh, which was rumored to arrive in the form of the GF7, we have bad news.

According to recent rumors, Panasonic has apparently canceled its plans of launching the GF7, in order to focus on more profitable endeavors.

Panasonic usually takes the opportunity to refresh its GF series in spring or early April to be more precise. The Lumix GF6 was unveiled back in April 2013, but apparently this year Panasonic won’t be producing anything in the GF department, even if the patent for the GF7 has already been leaked online.

Sources familiar with the matter (via 43 Rumors) claim that Panasonic has turned its attention away from the GF, for the moment. Nevertheless, we could still see the GF7 arrive sometimes in 2015.

The Panasonic GF series has received a lot of positive feedback from the press and consumers alike. It’s a straightforward mirrorless compact camera that’s quite lightweight and sells at a very affordable price.

So, a lot of photo enthusiasts were probably eagerly awaiting the Lumix GF7. Panasonic has been accused in the past of putting out way too many mirrorless camera series, including the G, GH, GF, GX and GM. So maybe the tech giant is cherry picking the lines that are more likely to be profitable.
