If, by any chance, you have purchased a new Panasonic GM1 interchangeable-lens camera during the holiday season or you just happen to own one, we have a small recommendation that will surely improve handling and overall usage of the camera.

Because of its small size, the camera is perfect to be taken along everywhere you go, giving you the possibility to pack light without having to carry around a large camera body with various lenses. Although its size is a great asset, the camera doesn't come with a built-in hand grip that would allow you to firmly hold it in your hands.

Of course, the Nippon manufacturer offers a grip plate attachment for the GM1, but this too can become an inconvenient when you need to change batteries or remove the flash card. In addition to that, Panasonic's grip also increases the camera's weight and height and also covers the tripod mount on its base.

Richard Franiec is a photographer who is mostly known for his high-grade custom camera grips designed to help you handle your camera with ease, at the same time allowing access to all camera functions and mounts.

Recently, Richard announced the availability of a new hand grip made especially for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1 mirrorless digital camera that carefully matches the camera's aesthetics and provides increased functionality.

The grip features an S-curve finger groove contour that allows you to hold the camera comfortably in your hands, improving balance and handling even when using large Micro 4/3 lenses. Moreover, the grip is also lightweight, adding only 20g / 0.7oz to your camera's weight.

In addition to that, the camera battery/card door as well as the tripod mount is unobstructed, allowing you to use them whenever needed. The grip is made from high-grade aluminum alloy and attaches to the camera using VHB (Very High Bond) clear transfer tape that firmly bonds to the camera without leaving any residue after its removal.

You can now pre-purchase the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1 custom grip for Richard Franiec's website at a price of only $34.95 / €25. The first grips will be shipped starting January 2014.
