Compact camera enthusiasts, we have good news for you. As you might be well aware, info about Panasonic planning to release a new 1-inch sensor compact and fixed lens Panasonic LX8 camera has been flying around the internet for some time now.

Actually, it’s already known that the LX8 will arrive on July 16 with a built-in EVF, kind of like the one in the Sony RX100M3. Furthermore, the new model will abide by the aesthetic features (overall design and size) of the LX line.

But now DR Photorumor (via 43Rumors) brings us word of something really exciting. It appears this small and fit camera will also be able to shoot 4K, thus making it one of the smallest 4K cameras in existence (with a larger 1-inch sensor or above).

As the launch date of the LX8 is drawing closer and closer, we’re probably going to be hearing more about its complete specifications. For now, I can only tell you that the compact camera will come with a pretty hefty price tag of $799 / €586, but that’s to be expected taking the specs into account.

However, take the pricing information with a grain of salt, as the new camera might turn out to be even more expensive than previously anticipated.
