Rugged tech devices are getting popular these days, with more and more companies and professionals opting for these sturdy devices to help them get the job done in difficult environments.

Panasonic Toughpad and Toughbook distributor Comworth claims that rugged technology will experience a rise of 22% this year, which is attributed to professionals’ willingness to spend a little more on a device that’s not easily damageable.

Panasonic is one of the most well-known rugged machine manufacturers offering models bundling Windows 8 / Intel chips and Android tablets in 10.1 and 7-inch flavors.

Devices like the Toughpad or the Toughbook are equipped with splash and dust-proof properties and can withstand falls from over 1 m / 39 inches without any repercussion.

Meanwhile, Panasonic is looking to become the dominant presence in the rugged tablet market by 2015, hoping to capture up to 50% share.

Also note that the company’s Toughbook line currently accounts for 60% of the ruggedized laptop market on a global scale.
