The company exited the smartphone market a few years ago

Panasonic has a discreet presence on the Indian smartphone market, which could be explained by the fact that the Japanese company has almost closed its mobile phone business due to low sales.

The Eluga family of smartphones was the last to make its entrance on the European market, but after a few months, Panasonic confirmed that it would exit the smartphone market.

However, it appears that the Japanese company has kept releasing low- to mid-range Android smartphones in India. The reason is unknown, but it may have something to do with the fact that it does not require Panasonic to do much in terms of investment, considering that they launch one or two smartphones over a period of a few months.

Panasonic smartphone may also sell well enough to justify the company’s presence on the Indian market, even if discreet. Anyway, after launching a series of mid-range Android smartphones in the last couple of months, such as the P31, T21, T11 and P11, Panasonic now plans to revive the Eluga family in India.

There’s a new ad posted on the company’s official Facebook page, which says that one or more Eluga smartphones are about to make their debut in India. The ad reads “elegance for a new generation,” which might suggest that Panasonic plans to emphasize the phone’s looks over performance.

Unfortunately, not many details on the phone’s / phones’ specs sheet have been disclosed yet and there’s no telling when exactly Panasonic will offer more info.

Still, if we are to take into consideration what the ad says, we should expect the official unveil of at least one Eluga smartphone very soon.

The last high-end Panasonic smartphone launched in India, the P81 was priced at Rs 18,990 ($325 / €235) outright and packed interesting features.

The Eluga series was exclusively aimed at the high-end segment of the market as well, which is why we expect Panasonic to announce another flagship smartphone in the next couple of days.

Obviously, this is just speculation and Panasonic may have adapted its high-end Eluga series to the requirements of the Indian market, where affordable smartphones are also the most popular.

This means that Panasonic may in fact launch one or more mid-range Android smartphones that, hopefully, will look better than other devices in the same price range.

We will keep an eye out for additional details on the upcoming release of Panasonic’s Eluga smartphone(s) in India, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
