Although, lately we haven't heard much from Panasonic and its line of portable computer systems, the much-anticipated launch of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system is a good enough reason for the company to announce that it will update its line of laptops with six new models. On that note, Panasonic has just debuted six new laptops, part of its line of 'Let's note' portable PCs, all of which have been designed to be powered by Microsoft's next-generation Windows 7 operating system.

According to the fellows over at akihabara, the company has just introduced the new Let's note F8, R8, W8, T8 laptop models, but also two new S8 and N8 models. According to the aforementioned source, the four F8, R8, W8 and T8 are pretty much the same as the previous versions, but will now be offered with the upcoming Windows 7 operating system and a Windows 7 to XP downgrade program.

As for Panasonic's new S8 and N8 systems, the company has decided to provide its customers with a choice for a compact, powerful PC that is powered by some of Intel's latest mobile processors. According to available specifications, the R8 should be powered by the Core 2 Duo SU9600, running at 1.6GHz. At the same time, the N8 and S8 systems, neither of which includes a built-in optical drive, will feature a more powerful Core 2 Duo P8700 processor, clocked at 2.53GHz and coupled with a 250GB HDD and the Intel GM45 Express Chipset with 765MB of VRAM, 2 or 4GB of RAM and featuring a 12.1-inch WXGA LCD.

Both the S8 and the N8 models have been featured with WiMAX and WiFi a/b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet, SDHC, HDMI Out, and standard battery life of eight hours, according to the PC vendor. Unfortunately we have no details on pricing and availability at this time.
