Although it's not yet commercially available, Palm's new and fashionable Treo Pro smartphone can be pre-ordered by mobile users from across the UK, and all those who sign up for it will receive the handset starting September 15.

The only thing that can now stop British customers from getting a Treo Pro is its price, since Palm sells the smartphone unlocked, for 399 GBP (490 Euros or 700 USD). Of course, this is not that much, considering the look and capabilities of the new Treo, but it's still a hefty sum for "regular users." Luckily, the handset will also be available via Vodafone UK, with a contract agreement and for lower prices.

Officially presented by the Sunnyvale manufacturer at the end of August, Treo Pro is not only the most nicely-designed Palm handset, but also one of the most advanced in terms of features. The smartphone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and brings the following: quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz), internal GPS, Wi-Fi, a 2.5 inch TFT touchscreen display with 320 x 320 pixels and 65K colors, Office Mobile for viewing and editing documents while on the go, Outlook mobile, Pocket Internet Explorer, Palm shortcuts, Music and Video players, a 3.5mm headset jack (included for the first time in a Palm device), Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, speakerphone, microUSB and 100MB of expandable memory.

Treo Pro is the slimmest Palm ever, measuring 114 x 60 x 13.4 millimeters, at a weight of 133 grams. Its battery is a 1500 mAh one that should be able to last up to 5 hours in talk-time mode or up to 250 hours in stand-by mode.

UK mobile users can pre-order the Treo Pro from Palm's official website, found at this address.

The new handset will soon be released by Palm all over Europe, as well as in the US, Asia and Australia.
