Palm announced recently the long expected CDMA (800/1900MHz) smartphone Treo 700p.

The 700p has similar specifications as the 700w, which include EV-DO high-speed data, 1.3 megapixel camera, and Bluetooth.

The key differences are Palm OS 5.4.9 instead of Windows Mobile and a sharper 320 x 320 display like the Treo 650. The 700p model also supports built-in streaming video, support for Outlook, Yahoo!, AOL, and GMail email accounts, built-in support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files, plus Mac compatibility.

The smartphone features an Intel XScale 312MHz processor, 128MB of memory out of which 60MB is user available, and full QWERTY keyboard. Moreover, users can extend their phone memory capacity with the help of the SD card slots that have been provided.

It seems that the device comes with a basic version of PocketTunes, but lacks PlaysForSure support. Palm claims a talk time of up to 4.5 hours and a standby time of up to 300 hours.

No information was disclosed about its price but it seems the 700p will be launched with both Sprint and Verizon Wireless in the coming months.
