As many of you already know, Palm Pre, the new handset the company unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show last week in Las Vegas will be Sprint exclusive, at least for about two months, the news reports say. From the rumors we've seen lately on the Web, it seems that the handset will also be spotted on Best Buy Mobile during those exclusive 60 days.

The new Pre is expected to prove to be a rather powerful phone, one that would be able to go against iPhone 3G on the market, and it is reported to be available first in the United States at Sprint, while a European version should pop up with a two-month delay. According to an article on WebOS Arena, users in the US willing to purchase the handset will be able to do so either from Sprint directly or from Best Buy.

According to the report, Sprint's partnership with Best Buy would make sense, considering the fact that the carrier also launched the Samsung Instinct exclusively with them about six months ago. When reporting the news, the article on WebOS Arena cites “a credible source,” yet there is no official word from the company regarding the deal with Best Buy.

Neither Sprint nor Palm have yet announced a specific launch date for what seems to be the best handset of the year. The device is expected to make a great impression amongst users, and Palm is also reported to need this almost desperately. The phone was received very well by the press as well as by industry watchers, and has been called “simply amazing” and “well thought-out and smooth.” One of the greatest features of the device is reported to be the software it is running, Palm's webOS.

As long as Apple does not launch a new iPhone or another smartphone comes to the market to take down the Pre, this handset might rise to people's expectations for this year.
