For free on a €60 voice plan plus a €15 data plan

Telefonica has announced today that it will carry in Spain the new Palm Pre smartphone running under the webOS platform starting with October 14, only a week from now on. According to the carrier, the price tag for the Pre will range from free to 219 Euros, depending on the price plan customers will opt for. Moreover, users who come to Telefonica from other networks will also benefit from a series of offerings, the company added.

Palm also announced the launch of Pre with Telefonica and provided some details on the pricing of the device: “New Telefonica customers can receive the phone at no cost, depending on their service plan commitment." Telefonica will also deliver the Palm Pre exclusively in other markets in Europe, including United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany, the company stated.The handset will come both to Telefonica outlets in Spain and online on the company's website, the mobile phone maker added.

Mobile phone users in Spain will be able to enjoy the Palm Pre on Telefonica's HSDPA network that operates on 850, 1900 and 2100MHz frequency bands. Users coming to Telefonica from other carriers will pay only €29 ($43) for the device, yet the smartphone will become available for them for price plans that start at €30 ($44) for voice, plus €15 ($22) for data.

Other price tags and plans for which the Palm Pre will be available in the country include €179 upon the signing of a service agreement for a €9 voice plan and a €10 data plan. Those who will opt for a voice plan of €60, coupled with a data plan of €15, will enjoy the Palm Pre for free.
