Sunyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm, Inc. and wireless carrier Telcel announced on Thursday the upcoming launch of the Palm Pre smartphone in Mexico. According to the duo, starting with November 27, mobile phone users in the country will be able to enjoy the capabilities of the first Palm webOS-based handset, which will offer them multitasking capabilities, as well as the possibility to connect to various information in a more efficient manner.

“With the introduction of Palm Pre with Telcel in Mexico, we’re expanding the Palm webOS footprint into Latin America for the first time,” said Dave Whalen, senior vice president, Global Sales, Palm, Inc. “We’re steadily increasing momentum for Palm webOS as we continue to roll out products with new carriers and countries.”

The Palm Pre has been already launched in a variety of markets around the world, including the United States, where it can be purchased via Sprint, and Canada via Bell, as well as a series of European markets, such as the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Spain. The handset comes around both with a touchscreen display, as well as with a full-QWERTY keyboard, and proves a great option when it comes to web browsing, music, photos and videos, email and text messaging, or phone calls.

In addition, Pre's webOS platform comes with Palm Synergy, a solution aimed at bringing various information in a single view, no matter where it resides. According to the handset maker, the new solution offers users the possibility to easier track multiple calendars, contacts and messaging applications. Synergy brings contacts from Outlook, Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn in a single view, providing a simple access way.

The specs list of Palm Pre also includes GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP, 8GB of internal memory, MicroUSB connector, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, accelerometer, light and proximity sensors, removable battery, desktop-class web browser, and other more, all inside a device that measures 59.57x 100.53 x 16.95 mm (2.3x 3.9 x 0.67 inches) and weighs 135 grams (4.76 ounces). No details on the price tag Pre will feature in Mexico emerged at the moment.
