Last week, Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm, now part of HP, announced the launch of a new handset running under its webOS operating system, the Palm Pre 2, which already went on sale in France, and which can be admired in what seems to be the first official promo video its maker pushed out for it.

The video, embedded at the bottom of this article, was meant to bring forth the most important features of the new mobile operating system.

We're talking about a clip that is only 34 seconds long, but which, as the guys over at PreCentral note, shows almost all that one would like to learn about the new HP webOS 2.0.

Features that are showcased in the video include: Just Type “to begin just about anything,” multitasking with stacks, Synergy calendars and contacts, notifications, apps and video recording and uploading.

This is not an official commercial for the new handset and the OS it is running under, but it does serve the purpose of being a promo video pretty well.

When compared to the previous version of the platform, the new webOS 2.0 comes with a great deal of enhancements, being able to offer a better, faster experience to all users.

Of course, the handset it powers also provides a helpful hand, that's for sure.

Palm packed the new Pre 2 with a 1GHz processor, as well as with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities, and more.

The handset sports a similar form factor and similar looks with the older Palm Pre model, though improved hardware specs should result in a better experience delivered to end users.

Palm Pre 2's specs list also includes 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as 6GB of internal memory space, with USB mass storage support.

Moreover, the handset packs GPS capabilities, as well as support for email, messaging and social networking, all inside a device measuring 59.6 x 100.7 x 16.9mm and weighing in at 145 grams.
