Starting with February 10th, mobile phone users in the United States have the possibility to pre-order the highly anticipated Palm Pre 2 smartphone on Verizon Wireless' airwaves.

Featuring a price tag of $99.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier, the new device is the most appealing webOS-based smartphone available at the moment on the market.

The handset was officially announced last year, when HP/Palm launched it in Europe, and was available for purchase in the US as an unlocked, free of contract GSM device.

However, Verizon Wireless has now the CDMA flavor of Palm Pre 2 available for its customers, and those who would like to take advantage of HP's webOS platform.

The new device comes with the same form factor as Palm Pre and Pre Plus, while adding a more powerful application processor into the mix, and a series of other features as well.
