Does not pay developers to build apps

Palm's App Catalog for the webOS platform running on the Palm Pre seems to be expanding quite nicely. The latest addition to the storefront includes a number of 15 software solutions, five of which have been already spotted in the Homebrew app list. This is great news for those who own a Palm Pre device, as reports have showed previously that they are app-hungry people.

The list of new applications that can be found on Palm's software portal includes: Chess for webOS, DeadMan, Ditto, Dot Game, Hebrew Calendar Trial Version, MediPDA, P2GoogleVoice, P2Snippets, Pic Hunt – Pets, Pic Hunt – Space Explorer, Pic Hunt – Vintage Cars, Reversi, Send My Location for webOS, Survivor Samoa and TipCalc.

Palm made the Mojo SDK for its webOS available to the developer world a while ago, and, ever since, more and more new software solutions have surfaced to the portal. The App Catalog, as many of you might already know, has been launched the very same day Palm Pre made it to Sprint's airwaves, only that it had a small number of applications available at that time. Now, we learn, it is getting ready for a revamp, and is expected to show its new face next week.

Interestingly enough, while we all know that Palm is investing in providing developers with the best fitted tools so that they can build applications for the webOS, some rumors on the Internet suggested recently that the company was also paying developers to come up with software solutions for the platform.

TechCrunch reported recently that the developers of CitySourced were paid by Palm to launch the application for webOS, yet it seems that the rumors are false. PreCentral notes that Palm has partnered with FreedomSpeaks Foundation, the people behind the application, which will promote its handsets at different events. While Palm invested in the entity, this has not been done so as an application will pup up for the Pre, it seems.
