Verizon Wireless has officially announced that it starts offering the best-selling Palm smartphone of the last year(s), which is, of course, the Palm Centro.

The V carrier is the third important US operator to include the Centro in its line-up, after Sprint and AT&T. Sprint actually released the Centro quite a while ago, back in September 2007, being the exclusive carrier for the smartphone until the beginning of this year, when AT&T also began to commercialize the handset.

Well, now it's time for the second largest American carrier to present the Centro to its customers, and I believe that a considerable number of Verizon users will be interested in the new (to them) Palm. Since its release, the smartphone has sold in more than 1 million units and it has now reached lots of new markets, including Australia, Mexico and Colombia.

Verizon is offering the Centro starting tomorrow, June 13, via its official website as well as through its Communications Stores from across the US. The Verizonized Centro has prices starting at $99.99 (that's with a contract agreement for two years, obviously). For the beginning, there will only be one color version, namely a "crisp cobalt blue" one, but I guess Verizon will soon come up with other colors (white, black or even red and pink).

As for the features of Verizon's Palm Centro, these are about the same that you can find on the previously launched Centros. The smartphone's owners will get a square TFT touchscreen display with a 320 x 320 pixels resolution, the well-known QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy text input, Google Maps, VersaMail 4.0 (Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support included), Blazer web browser, document viewer and editor, one-touch speakerphone, Bluetooth, Music player, a 1.3 Megapixel camera (with video) and 64MB if internal memory, extendable up to 4GB via a microSD card.
