Pagani Automobili S.p.A, the creator of the new Huayra, in collaboration with publisher Electronic Arts and with developer Slightly Mad Studios, have announced that the newly unveiled supercar will be available to gamers in virtual form exclusively in the upcoming Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed and in other titles in the series that will be launched during 2011.

The Pagani Huayra has been named after the God of Wind in the Andean mythology and features a 700 HP engine and a complex body shape, designed to reach speeds of more than 350 kilometers per hour.

The developers at Slightly Mad Studios spent a lot of time with the car creators at Pagani to see how the car came together and watch it in action, making sure that their virtual creation is as close as possible to the real thing.

Horacio Pagani, who is the founder of Pagani Automobili S.p.A, has stated, “For the past seven years, the designing of the Huayra has been a labor of love and I’m ecstatic to be working with the entire Need for Speed team to help share our creation with the world.”

He added, “I’m amazed by how accurately they have been able to capture the look and, most importantly, the feel of the Huayra. Shift 2 Unleashed will give enthusiasts all over the world the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Huayra.”

Shift 2 Unleashed aims to deliver both credible physics and a high dose of adrenaline, like that enjoyed by real drivers involved in high speed car races.

The developers have said that they aim to create a game experience that is more visceral than that seen in Gran Turismo 5 from Sony and Polyphony Digital.

Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed will be released on the PC, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the launch date is currently set for March 31, although delays are always a possibility.
