Xbox One will get a new, upgraded and cheaper version

Michael Pachter, the analyst watching the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan, says that the PlayStation 4 has the biggest chance of winning the current console war because of its lower price and its superior hardware power.

He believes that the worst device on the market at the moment is the Wii U from NIntendo, which is not selling well and has little hope of getting a big boost from coming game releases.

Pachter is quoted by GamesIndustry.biz as saying at the Game Monetization USA Summit in San Francisco that, "I don’t know why Iwata is still employed."

The analyst blames the president of Nintendo for the fact that he has not been willing to launch titles created by his studios on other platforms in order to create fans who might then buy the 3DS handheld or the Wii U home console.

NIntendo has admitted that the Wii U is selling below expectations but has new Zelda and Mario games in development which are designed to revive its fortunes.

Speaking about the PlayStation 4 Pachter adds, "The graphics are phenomenal, and the huge RAM makes future innovation likely."

The Xbox One will also continue to sell well but Microsoft will launch an upgraded version of the home console that will include a built-in TV tuner and better hardware.

The analyst also believes that the device will get a price cut which will make it more appealing to customers in the long term.

Despite good predictions for the two next gen consoles Pachter believes that the overall market for this kind of devices will be unable to expand rapidly and he says that combined sales will fail to reach 500 million platforms by the end of the generation's lifetime.

Sony has recently revealed that the PlayStation 4 has managed to sell 2.1 million units since it was launched.
