THQ's core games boss Danny Bilson recently talked about the handheld gaming market, and how the PSP2 should help reinvigorate it, and how the 3DS has a fantastic hardware.

THQ is expanding left and right, with the latestt announcement that former Ubisoft Montreal designer Patrice Desilets will be leading the future THQ Montreal studio being the most recent in a long line of impressive achievements for the video games publisher.

Besides focusing on platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, THQ will also be focusing on the handheld ones, especially as how new platforms like the PSP2 or the Nintendo 3DS will soon be revealed.

Talking about the PSP2, Bilson revealed that he hopes that Sony will reinvigorate its efforts, given the current lackluster sales of the current PSP and the PSP Go.

"I hope that they invigorate their handheld platform because it will just give us another place to deliver our games."

"They do have a lot of great engineers and great designers. When they do announce it, I hope that it's something that works for everybody, but I really can't comment on it because they haven't."

Rumors about a PSP2 have been growing in intensity recently, with many developers claiming they are already in possession of dev kits, and that the hardware is more powerful than the current console.

Meanwhile, Sony revealed that it doesn't want to talk about the PSP2, but that a new console will be revealed in the future.

The Nintendo 3DS, on the other hand, really impressed THQ with its hardware and capabilities, so the company will fully support it with special titles.

"I think it's fantastic hardware... The 3DS is really kind of amazing. We're not doing a 'sit back and wait' thing. We're actually betting with Nintendo that it's going to be successful by developing three or four titles for it."
