Hope that a golf ball even shows on the PSP's screen. If it does, so will a snooker ball

You just have to love these handhelds. You get to play where ever you are, listen to music, watch movies ant even connect to the Internet. Technology has come a long way, I must say. But just when I thought that Sony's PSP was done with new services and features - as the company is working on releasing a new lighter one - Sony announces their developing a system allowing Arsenal fans the opportunity to watch replays and statistics live on a PSP while at the game. Wow! Yeah, another reason for soccer fanatics to waste their lives, but in a nice way nonetheless: "We see four screens in life; Cinema, Television, Computer, and a portable device", said Eric Siereveld, Director of Retail Transport Venues at Sony in an interview with Pocket-lint.

The service will be called S.PORT and will launch sometime this year on a trial basis for 4,000 fans. Of course, if everything goes accordingly and fans are pleased, I wouldn't be surprised to see the service ported to all handhelds, or even cell phones while they're at it. And if everything goes well after that, maybe we'll see it providing statistics and instant replays for other sports like snooker for example. Yeah, so I like snooker, you got a problem with that? Good.

You can say what you want about it and I'm sure that not all of you are impressed by this announcement; heck, many see the PSP as what it mainly is: a portable gaming system. But the truth is, Sony's handheld is much more than that. A service...pardon me, a portable service allowing you to "see whether or not a player really was off side, " as Siereveld continued, is somewhat nifty you have to admit.

Of course the service won't just be limited to Arsenal, as Siereveld stated: "It could be used at any stadium around the UK, or even a golf match where it is sometimes hard to see the ball flying through the air." And snooker? Snooker is played with balls too... OK, I guess I'll have to wait for my moment of joy.
