The PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance on the night between Tuesday, May 31, and Wednesday, June 1, while Sony is expected to bring back the PlayStation Store part of the online service.

Sony brought back the PlayStation Network at the beginning of the month, but the service is still not fully functional.

Currently, owners of PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable devices can just access the online multiplayer or account management.

Sony said on multiple occasions that it is trying to get the PlayStation Store back online as soon as possible, but declined to say when exactly, limiting itself to say that it's going to return at the end of this month.

Now, right at the end of the month, the company has confirmed, via CVG, that the PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance.

Between 7pm GMT on Tuesday, May 31, and 1am GMT on Wednesday, June 1, PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable services like online multiplayer, account management or account registration on either the actual devices or on the PC, will be unavailable.

"If you attempt to log in during this period you will receive the site maintenance notification page," Sony said. "If you are already signed in during this period you should be able to stay connected and you will not lose your gaming session (however the above services will still be unavailable)."

While this isn't an official confirmation that the PlayStation Store will make its return, the timing of the planned maintenance is perfect, so we can expect Sony to once again allow gamers to access its digital store later this week.

The return of the marketplace will also allow Sony to kick off its "make good" promotion, in which PSN users that were affected by the outage can get to experience a free month of PlayStation Plus membership as well as a choice of two free games for the PS3 and PSP, out of a total of four titles.
