The PlayStation 4 next-gen console will be compatible with current wireless headsets for the PlayStation 3, at least according to an official from Sony who talked about the cross-generation support.

The PS4 is out later this year and Sony has confirmed a few weeks ago the contents of the console's retail package, in the form of the actual device, a DualShock 4, different cables, and a mono headset that can be plugged into the controller.

Now, a Sony official has confirmed to Polygon that the PS4 will be compatible with PlayStation 3 wireless headsets, meaning those who already own such devices won't have to throw them out once they transition to the PS4.

No other details have been given, so potential PS4 owners should await more announcements in the very near future.
