In search of a PS3 exclusive title that rocks...

The news of the day is that the development of God of War III is working out fine, but Cory Barlog, GoW II's director is leaving Sony. However, it seems that the company is relying heavily on the launch of its third God of War game hoping to boost the sales of its not-so-popular next-gen device. Just look at the Nintendo Wii for example: it scored big time with its two exclusive titles, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wii Sports, available at the console's launch.

Even the Microsoft relied on games like Gears of War or Lost Planet to boost the Xbox 360's sales back in the days that followed the console's launch. Instead, Sony launched the PS3 together with Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm, which are not the blockbusters we expected them to be. Heavenly Sword also played an important part in the gaming device's popularity, but the majority of PS3 fans are still waiting for God of War III of Final Fantasy XIII.

There are some games out there that will make people purchase a certain console, in order to play them. Take the example of Silent Hill Origins: if you're a SH series fan and you've played every title so far, you can't miss the latest episode of the horror survival masterpiece, so you'll buy a PSP in order to play the game. Also Final Fantasy fans may have a hard time collecting the many FF titles, but they wouldn't want to miss Crisis Core, another reason to buy the PSP (specially the Slim version). God of War: Chains of Olympus is also an excellent reason for deciding to purchase Sony's portable gaming device, but the title will be out in March 2008, so we'll have to wait a bit before judging if it deserves its hype or not.

In the meantime, the PS3 suffers from the lack of an exclusive title that would set the console apart from its next-gen rivals, using the innovative technologies supported by the device, like the SIXAXIS or taking full advantage of the Cell processor's power?
