4GB modules with Intel XMP support

The players from different market segments appear to be taking turns at refreshing their product lines. Over the past few weeks, PC makers have released a slew of desktops and laptops. Some time before this string of introductions began, however, a similar phenomenon occurred on the memory front, as a veritable competition emerged between companies that strove to create the fastest dual-channel kits in history. Said players now seem poised to reclaim the spotlight, with PQI as one of the first.

Power Quotient International unveiled a new Turbo series memory module that is going to be part of high-capacity dual-channel and triple-channel kits. The module in question has a capacity of 4GB and a frequency of 2000MHz. This amount of memory is possible thanks to the 8-layer PCB and the 256x8 BGA chips set into it. As such, the dual-channel and triple-channel kits that the module will be part of will have capacities of 8GB and 12GB, respectively

The rest of the specifications of the module are as noteworthy as one may expect from a product with support for the Intel XMP (Extreme memory profile) certification. To be more specific, the latencies are of 9-11-9-27, whereas the operating voltage is of 1.65V. Finally, the module is equipped with a phoenix-engraved aluminum heatspreader that will prevent PQI's latest creation from suffering an untimely death. Of course, enthusiasts will have to cope with their loss on their own if their unorthodox overclocking and/or benchmarking experiments result in their new kits' meltdown.

Power Quotient international is just about ready to start shipping the 8GB and 12GB kits to the general populace, but has not yet said just when or where exactly this occurs. Pricing is also a mystery, which makes the lifetime warranty the only marketing detail known at this time.
