With all the hype surrounding the upcoming new CPUs from Intel and Advanced Micro Devices, makers of memory and any other hardware are eagerly updating their product lines, and PNY has done this very thing to the Optima series.

It seems that PNY decided it was time to release some new RAM not just for the desktop market but also for the mobile PC segment.

As such, it put together not just one or two, but four memory kits, two 4 GB ones and two with a capacity of 8 GB.

They are divide into two pairs, as one may expect, one of which is built for desktops and the other for laptops.

The former pair is composed of one dual-channel 4 GB kit, made of two 2 GB modules, as well as an 8 GB kit (2 x 4GB). Both of them are of the DDR3-1333 RAM variety.

The two notebook solutions have the same respective capacities but feature an operating frequency of 1,066 MHz.

"DDR3 has become the sought after memory for consumers and we're excited to add these new options to our product line," said Nicholas Mauro, senior marketing manager, PC components for PNY.

"The 8GB kit is now the highest capacity memory in our line-up and also the ideal upgrade for Windows 7 and Mac users, so we're able to reach a broad range of consumers seeking to upgrade their desktop or notebook, whether for mainstream gaming, photo/video editing, media PC, or everyday use," Mauro added.

“The 1333MHz desktop modules are a great compliment to PNY's enthusiast and performance graphics cards and are designed with gold heat spreaders,” states the press release.

“The 1066MHz notebook modules are an excellent upgrade for Apple Mac products, such as the MacBook Pro, and Windows 7 based notebooks operating on DDR3,” the announcement went on to saying.

Priced at $69.99 and $129.99, respectively, the 4 GB and 8 GB kits come with a lifetime warranty.
